Municipal property to the value of R83 750 has been recovered from a former employee of the Matjhabeng municipality.

According to Supt. Bokvel Pietersen of the Matjhabeng Safety and Security Directorate, they received information that a former employee had been stealing water and electricity for more than a decade.

“Upon our visit to the house we found illegal connections which proved the suspect was indeed stealing electricity and water from the municipality,” says Pietersen.

“He was also caught stealing petrol,” says Pietersen.

The municipality is focussed on clamping down on illegal connections as they seriously hamper the municipality’s ability to deliver quality services to the people of Matjhabeng.

“The municipality strongly condemns the vandalism and damage done to property and those responsible will face the full might of the law,” says Pietersen.

Prohibited acts can be reported to Pietersen on 083-633-5879 or 084-336-3974.

Residents can send a WhatsApp message for delivery issues to the municipality on 067-930-6704.
