Pensioners crowned as beauties

Lentswe la Maqheku is a programme on The Rock FM radio station for pensioners who still enjoy life.

The presenter, Past. Nomsa Molefi, says the aim of her programme is to motivate and pray for spiritual upliftment. She regularly has competitions in which prizes can be won.

“Lentswe la Maqheku is also a group who takes care of pensioners by monitoring their personal and social structures,” says Molefi.

“Where we see a need we address it, whether it is fixing the home of an elderly person or filling a food cupboard in a time of need, or to clean for them, celebrate a birthday or to take care and support, we are there.”

Molefi and Malebese Makqethqa, the co-ordinator, also present an annual beauty competition for pensioners.

  • This year it was held on 6 April in the Thabong Community Hall. Lentswe la Maqheku is broadcast every Thursday from 19:00 to 21:00 on The Rock FM.
