Tip-off leads to retrieval of stolen goods
crime

Two men were arrested within a day of a burglary involving R100 000 worth of school equipment at the Tikwane School in Hoopstad.

They appeared in the Hoopstad Magistrate’s Court on Friday (01/02). The case has been postponed to Friday (08/02) for bail application.

On the evening of 30 January, Det. Const. Trinity Ndlovu received a tip-off. He followed up information which led to a house in the Tikwana township.

Most of the stolen items were recovered at the house. The two suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen items and burglary, says Capt. Stephen Thakeng of police’s corporate communication.

“There have been a spate of robberies and burglaries at our schools in the area. We appreciate the information received,” says Maj. Gen. Lerato Molale, cluster commander of Welkom.
