Setsoto area quickly shaping up

Approximately 90 participants in the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) embarked on a cleaning campaign in the area of the Setsoto Municipality in June.

This area includes Ficksburg, Senekal, Clocolan and Marquard.

According to Moroesi Gaba, communication officer of the Setsoto Municipality, it is a community-based environmental initiative aimed to inspire and empower communities to clean, repair and conserve the environment.

“Since the inception of the Setsoto cleaning campaign programme, Setsoto communities have voluntarily taken it upon themselves to participate in different activities as part of ensuring that our towns and townships are in a state that we can all be proud of,” Gaba said.

These initiatives include the cleaning of public areas, storm water drainage and the municipal central business district. It also includes the patching of potholes and the cleaning of municipal entrances at both the town and township areas.

“As these initiatives continue to unfold in and around our towns and townships, the community is kindly requested to take part by taking care of that small space around where we live, as we believe that a clean and healthy environment is everyone’s responsibility,” Gaba said.
