Theft counters support

The batteries of 16 water tanker trucks were stolen in Qwaqwa on Friday (07/02).

Sisi Ntombela, premier of the Free State, raised her concerns regarding the theft.

According to Ntombela, the Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality was finally making progress in assisting residents in the water crisis when theft ensued. and brought trucks to assist with the water shortage. The trucks were essentially used to transport water around the community.

The theft is believed to be linked to the unrest due to water shortages in recent weeks. The premier has ensured the community that she will be working closely with Sam Mashinini, MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, for the quick arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
