Blow the whistle against crime

The local children of Langebaan came together to rise up against injustice and blow the whistle on crime, alcohol and sexual abuse in their community on Saturday 1 September.

The Blow The Whistle event is held annually and is organised by the committee of the Langebaan Community Police Forum and is headed by Peter Lindenberg.

Langebaan Police were also involved in the event which saw an increase in the number of children attending this year.

In comparison to last year when 342 children attended, this year saw a huge growth to 589.

During the day the children marched through Seaview Park and Langebaan North and later gathered at Seabreeze Park again for a fun-filled and educational programme about dental hygiene.

Among the other fun activities that the children enjoyed were the jumping castles as well as playing soccer.

The children also walked away with gifts – including a whistle– and sweet things from the event.

This included puzzles as well as toiletry bags containing toothpaste, hand-wash and shampoo.
