Owner robbed in his store

A business in Ongegund was allegedly robbed by clients last weekend.

There were three patrons in the KwaMavuso Liquor Store on Saturday at 20:10 when the owner decided to lock up for the night.

When the owner was busy pulling down the safety gate he told the three he wanted to close, but instead of leaving they drew a firearm and threatened him.

The three allegedly robbed the owner of cash, alcohol and his cellphone.

According to Vredenburg police, the stolen goods are worth around R18 675.

Before the robbers fled, the owner was told to wait 10 minutes before leaving the store.

A few of the owner’s friends came to the store, and after hearing what happened set out to find the robbers.

According to police, the robbers shot at the pursuing men while escaping between the shacks in the neighbourhood.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Sergeant Simon Sokhuthu on 022 713 6453.
