Top students honoured

Saldanha’s Military Academy recently honoured all their graduates for their hard work and dedication to their studies with a passing-out parade on Thursday 13 December. The top performers in each arm of the SANDF were however singled out.

The event was held at the military parade ground in Saldanha and occurs annually.

According to Saldanha’s Military Academy Communication Officer, Engela Meintjes, there were 64 students who finished their three years of studies at the academy.

She adds that 48 of the graduates already received their degrees on Wednesday 12 December with one of them achieving it cum laude.

“As the end of the year draws nearer, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) once more honours individuals and rewards excellence by hosting the annual passing-out parade for students who have completed their academic learning at the Military Academy,” explained Meintjes regarding the purpose of the parade.

She explains further that the parade marks the pinnacle of the graduate’s three year stay in the academy and marks a new era in the students military journey as they pursue life-long careers in the defence force.

Candidate Officer, GN Nxumalo, was also honoured with the prestigious Sword of Honour award at the parade.

The main speaker for the parade was Chief of the South African National Defence, General Solly Shoke who wished all the graduates success in their future endeavours and told them to lead by example.
