Budding soccer stars need sponsorship

Two local soccer stars in the making look forward to showcasing their skills overseas once the pair head to Malaysia for the Green Smile u-20 soccer tour.

The tour is taking place from Wednesday 4 December until Saturday 14 December.

Waleed Mentoor and McNeal Sauls both represent local soccer club Young Chiefs FC in Velddrif.

Mentoor plays on the left wing while Sauls defends at left back.

Both of them will also be flying for the first time when they embark on the tour.

According to Lehango Bullet, their coach, this once-in-a-lifetime tour may open many doors and opportunities for the young footballers, as scouts will be present.

“They may have a chance to achieve professional soccer contracts.”

He adds that they were selected after producing a great performance at the Green Smile u-21 Soccer Tournament at UWC earlier this year at the end of April.

“During the tour they will play against professional academies with scouts present.”

Both of them require sponsorship to pay for their travel costs and realise their dreams.
