Concert for soup kitchens

Phakama Arts Foundation together with Miles Entertainment are hosting a Heritage virtual concert with proceeds going to Weskus CAN.

Due to Covid-19 regulations there is currently a delay in confirming the venue, so a date will be confirmed only once this has been done.

Weskus CAN is a non-profit organisation operating on the West Coast, which provides support to more than 50 soup kitchens, some of which were started during the coronavirus pandemic to feed many who did not have access to food.

“Let us showcase our talents as performing artists, using this platform to support the efforts of Weskus CAN,” said one of the organisers and MC for the event, Vernon Vraagom.

The concert will start at 11:00 on the day and will finish at 15:00. Tickets at R50 are available through a link that will be made available on stakeholders’ Facebook pages.

Some of the artists who confirmed their involvement are Wouter van de Venter, Louis van Lill, Miles Entertainment, The West Coast Wailers, Johnty Basson, Jody Basson, D Mayor live band, Meleighke Lopez, Leatitia Titus, Sipho G and Thee Beat Freakz.

Performers still interested in performing on the day can send an email to weskuscan@gmail.com.

Businesses interested in supporting this initiative can buy an ad for R1 000, which will be displayed on the screen during the concert.

Vraagom says the aim of the concert is for everyone to celebrate and have pride in their own heritage while assisting those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
