Festival puts finest olive harvest on display

The popular annual Riebeek Valley Olive Festival is back, and takes place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May.

In celebration of a successful olive harvest, charming twin towns Riebeek-Kasteel and Riebeek West open their doors and hearts to visitors by putting their finest produce on display. Unique, award winning olive oils, olives and olive preserves, delectable wines, craft beer on tap and all the valley has to offer is available at this prestigious lifestyle festival.

There are eight exciting venues – wine farms, wine and olive farms, wine shops, olive shops and markets. Each participating venue has its own unique flavour and array of products and experiences, so be sure to visit them all.

A choice of live music, stalls, children’s entertainment, tractor rides, E-bike tours through the vineyards, colourful local culture and family fun prove that this is no ordinary festival, this is pure Riebeek magic at its best.

As always, the Riebeek-Kasteel Town Square will form the heart of the festival, with local stalls, children’s entertainment galore and lots to drink and eat. If you need a spot to sit and reflect on all that is going on around you, this is it.

Olive enthusiasts, do not leave town without visiting the Golden Olive Triangle, Kloovenburg, Het Vlock Casteel and the Olive Boutique for olives galore.

Tantalise your taste buds with unique and sought after wines from the Swartland terroir. Visit Meerhof Wines, Pulpit Rock Winery, Riebeek Valley Wine Co, Het Vlock Casteel, Allesverloren and Kloovenburg Wine and Olive Estate for delicious wines to enjoy on the day or an array of wines to take home with you.

In typical charitable Swartland style, a R125 passport ensures a complimentary glass of wine and entry to all the fabulous venues for the entire weekend. Children go for free.

Owing to public demand a Sunday-only Pass, for R80, is being implemented. This allows you all the benefits of the Weekend Pass, but for one day only.

All tickets are available through www.riebeekvalleyolivefestival.co.za.

The participating venues are Meerhof Wines, Kloovenburg Wine and Olive Farm, Het Vlock Casteel, Olive Boutique, The Country Market on the Square in Riebeek Kasteel, Riebeek Valley Wine Co, Allesverloren and Pulpit Rock Winery.

Sadly, no dogs are allowed.
