Shuck, savour, sip West Coast’s best

Two of the oldest hospitality institutions in Saldanha Bay, Blue Bay Lodge & Protea Hotel by Marriott Saldanha Bay, have teamed up to create “The Saldanha Experience”.

The inspiration is simple: attract more visitors to enjoy the beauty and delights that Saldanha has to offer, by creating a platform for businesses to showcase what they do best.

The Saldanha Experience is a series of curated events to enjoy the best of local wine, seafood and adventure. “This time round, the event will be small and intimate, but we want it to grow in future. We envision different businesses getting involved, offering unique high quality experiences for guests, in and around the bay.”

The two-day festival this weekend starts off at both properties with a five-course dinner by specialty chefs. Local wines have been selected to pair with each course, and local musicians will entertain. This has been sold out.

On Saturday guests will enjoy a hearty hotel breakfast, followed by a boat trip to the oyster farms in the Bay where they will taste oysters fresh from the sea, with a glass of bubbly, while learning all about oysters. The finale will be a langtafel (long table) feast in the Saldanha Bay Canning Factory. Tickets for the boat trip and langtafel are still available.

We hope this will be the start of something wonderful, bringing new life, activity and inspiration to Saldanha.
