West Coast Chilli Lasagne

Ingredients:

1 kg Ground beef

1 Medium Onion, chopped

3 tbsp West Coast Chilli

1 tbsp Olive Oil

2 410 g cans Italian tomatoes

250 ml Water

340 g Tomato Paste

1 tsp Oregano

1 tsp Basil

Salt and Pepper

450 g Mozarella cheese, grated

450 g Cottage cheese

½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

450 g box Lasagna pastaMethod:

Preheat oven to 180 ºC. In a pan add olive oil, chopped onions. Sauté until onions are soft and translucent. Add ground beef and cook until completely browned, drain fat. Return to pan.

Add chilli sauce, tomato paste, tomatoes, water, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat to low, cover and cook for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Cook pasta according to directions on the package, drain and set aside. In a large baking dish or two smaller ones, put the meat mixture at the bottom of dish and spread around.

Place the lasagne sheets in the tray (normally 5 or 6, depending on size of the dish). Spoon half of the cottage cheese on top of the pasta and spread. Spoon the meat mixture on top of cottage cheese, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and add half of mozarella cheese.

Repeat. Cover with foil and cook for approximately one hour.

Serve with salad and garlic bread.
