New Miss Teen Africa from Gym

Yet another win for local beauty pageant aficionado.

Caitlin Adams (14) took the title of Miss Teen Africa on Saturday 5 June.

“I was so shocked when they called out my name as the winner of my category. I wasn’t expecting it at all, especially because I mixed up my words during my introduction. But the judges said I recovered well from it,” explains the Worcester Gymnasium learner.

She partly attributes her recent win to the fact that she has joined a new agency.

“I joined a new modelling agency and I have weekly classes. I think because I am surrounded with so many new people, and new coaches my confidence has reached new levels. I never thought I would become this confident,” says the bubbly teen.

During her reign as the new Miss Teen Africa she will use her time to bring awareness to various plights in the community. She would like to support the Cancer Shavathon, Steinthal Children’s Home, Goodies for Girls and Cupcakes for kids with cancer, she also wants to hand out food parcels.

“But I will especially focus on cancer awareness. It is a matter that is very close to my heart because of a small boy I know. I also just want to be more involved in other projects within the community this year.”

She is also looking forward to competing in and hopefully winning two other competitions taking place later this year. For these, she says, she will be preparing herself diligently.
