Langerug learner throws everything at winning
Lets Play finalist, Anro van Eeden.

“I am proud of myself. I always stay positive as it has always been my dream to be part of the South African team,” says the talented Anro van Eeden.

The young javelin athlete from Langerug School, who is Standard’s newest Let’s Play finalist, boasts a personal best throw of 77,59 m at the ASA Championship meeting in Paarl earlier this year.

Anro says that he was first introduced to the sport in primary school and from there he never looked back.

The Springbok athlete has participated at the ASA National Junior Championships in Paarl, where he recorded his personal best; the world u-20 Championships, where he unfortunately injured his back and fell out in the final round. He was included in the senior team to Nigeria.

At the moment Anro is preparing for the Region 5 u-20 Youth Games that will take place in Botswana in December.

According to Anro he does not have a strict routine that he adheres to, however, he trains weekly.

The star athlete clears his throat and says in a soft voice: “The year has been rough since I injured my back, but I am positive and practising very hard.”

Van Eeden also said that he has made a steady recovery and hopes that his return will be successful.
