Sports foundation cares

As part of its Youth Day (16 June) celebrations, the Sporting Stars Foundation’s (SSF) donated clothing items to the Avian Park Community Association, which has been tasked with distributing them to needy people in the community.

This was the second project initiated by SSF since its establishment.

“We received donations from many around Worcester, and are very grateful to our community, which has opened its hearts and cupboards to make a difference in the lives of those who are going through difficult times,” said the chairperson of the SSF, Mariam Africa. “For this we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

The SSF invokes its slogan, “from the community, for the community”, when rolling out all its projects. According to the foundation’s co-founder and head coach, Aasif Witbooi, it also supports organisations that aim to make a positive contribution to the community of Breede Valley.

SSF decided to support the “Worcester Cares” project, organised by Vernon Bedworth on Saturday 20 June, to say thank you to medical workers at local hospitals.

“The Sporting Stars Foundation is an important part of our club and through it we want to spread a message of hope to our community,” said Sporting Stars FC chairman Eusibio Fynn.

“If we work together everyone can achieve so much more.”
