Stand tall. Get up when you fall.
That was the slogan of the Cape Winelands Volleyball’s Women Day, which took place at Somerset High School on Saturday 25 August.
The morning programme started with two female speakers, Leandra Visser and Sheree Roux, giving testimony of how women can overcome the obstacles in life and still stand proud in the supportive presence of family friends and God.
It was evident that the women players were going to have loads of fun, dressed as they were in colourful funky outfits and wigs.
Mixed teams played a format aimed at development through enjoyment, with lucky prizes also at stake. The teams included Carnations, Iris, Jasmine, Lavenders and Daisies.
Teams that participated in the day’s programme were Worcester Spartans, Roses, Bergrivier High School in Wellington, the National Institute for the Deaf, Expendables (Hearing impaired) and the Breede Valley Ballers.
The day was filled with fun, although the winning drive was still evident.
