Grabouw will be a hive of activity mid-May with the Weekend Warrior event, a mountain biking for the whole family, at the Grabouw Country Club on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May.
With proceeds from the event earmarked to build more art classrooms at Grabouw High School, the school plays a central part in the event, which is organised by Red Cherry Events. The event is supported by Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing.
While the official race venue is the Grabouw Country Club, riders will also enjoy the mountains, nearby wine and fruit farms and the picturesque Elgin Dam. A great ride and time spent with the family, especially those camping in the tents provided by Red Cherry Adventures, are promised.
As the event is focused on the whole family; each adult entrant can bring along one under-14 entrant at no cost. The adult entry of R850 per person includes accommodation. Extra child entrants pay R400 each. There are three routes – bronze (10 km), silver (25 km) and gold 50 km – to cater for all fitness and ability levels. Day rider tickets for either Saturday or Sunday are R300 each.
The camp village includes a comfy chill zone, live music, hot showers, flush toilets and plenty of food options, while the children’s play area includes a mechanical bull, jumping castle and junior play area, so there’s plenty for the little ones to do as the older ones get stuck into some craft beverages in the chill zone.
