The Secret Garden Art in the Park will be held on 16 October in the Wildflower Gardens in Caledon.
What is The Secret Garden Art in the Park? It is an art exhibition to firstly promote mostly Overberg based artists, from school level through to professionals.
Secondly and most importantly it is to invite guests to walk through the 94-year- old Wildflower Garden in Caledon, to educate and raise awareness about the gardens and to raise funds to save this unique garden and nature reserve.
What makes these gardens so special? It is one of the oldest Wildflower Gardens and natures reserves in South Africa and it is home to about 235 species of heathers, the most in any place on the planet, of which Ericas make up the largest percentage. Over the years these gardens and nature reserve became a forgotten secret, to which we say no more!
The Theewaterskloof Municipality has made great strides this year in starting to upgrade the gardens, but there is still much to be done and as we all know funding is in short supply and we need to lend a hand to bring the changes, conservation, etc that we want to see.
