Hermanus Bowling Club hosted its annual Business League Tournament from 6 to 17 February.
Altogether 42 teams competed and, according to the organisers, its aim was to promote the sport of bowls among the business fraternity in the Hermanus/Overberg region and to foster an atmosphere that encourages business networking and social awareness. The idea was to motivate interest among participants, something which is conducive to increasing club membership and creating a sense of community and social spirit especially for the people of Hermanus.
The first top three teams in a division received prize money and gold, silver and bronze sherry ribbon awards while the winners of a division also received a trophy.
Other trophies include the Stone Last Award (team coming stone last – a tongue in cheek award), the Conrad Oosthuizen Spirit Trophy and the KVV du Plooy . . . Reach for the Stars Trophy.
“As in the past, this was an excellent, well organised tournament,” the organisers declared in a statement.
