The Delft Public Library recently hosted a business information session where business support organisations such as Seda and The Business Hub gave presentations to the local informal business owners.
According to Asanda Mgangxele from the library they also invited Sandiswa Gwele who owns L&S Shuttles to inspire the audience.
“Gwele has been nominated for the Women in Tourism category at the Woman of Stature Foundation Awards 2022. She is also the founder and managing director (MD) of Ukhanyo Foundation. The foundation focuses on supporting students that have failed matric to improve their grades,” says Mgangxele.
The information session was based on providing information that will assist the attendees to lay a solid foundation to their businesses and flourish to become well established enterprises.
“They were given information on where to go for assistance with business start-up, businesses registration information and trading permit information. One of the purposes of the session was to provide information and create networking opportunities for these entrepreneurs. Our long-term goal is to help people formalise their business and create employment in the community. This will not only benefit these individuals but will also benefit the community in combating crime through getting the youth employed by the local businesses. This session is one of many to come as the library plans to continually host these kind of sessions.
“This is a one of a kind opportunity for all local informal business owner and traders. This session has been received with much enthusiasm by the audience as they have found the session beneficial in taking their informal businesses to greater heights. As Delft Public Library we are grateful to get powerful support from Ncedisa Njomba and Sheila Vusi from Masakhe Delft Women empowerment project. These ladies played a significant role in spreading the word in the community,” says Mgangxele.
