The young and talented Regina-lee Thompson is wasting no time on her first Extended Play (EP), and is releasing it on Saturday 25 February.
The 25-year-old Vredenburg singer’s EP, entitled Black and White, gives fans insight into relationships – the good, bad, dark and light side, and hence its title.
Consisting of seven songs and two music videos, on it Thompson writes from a personal point of view, really engaging her emotions and experiences in each song which many can resonate with. Mixed and mastered by Razor, listeners will experience the genres R&B and Afrobeats.
One of the songs that stands out for the singer is “I am more”. “Reason being,” she says, “there comes a time in life when one feels as if one is not good enough. The song is a reminder that one is more than the challenges life has placed before one. It is also a reminder that one is worthy and so much more.”
When it came to putting the EP together, Thompson said the most challenging part was deciding on the type of message to share with listeners.
“I would describe the experience as a roller coaster of emotions,” she said.
“I wanted to express the way I felt in every song and put myself out there giving the world a taste of who I am and what I am about.”
Thompson is very impressed with the end-product and all the work put into creating the EP.
Her mission for this year is to get as much of her music and sound “out there”. This objective is evidently in motion already, as the young star has not only begun the year with this, her very first EP.
She is due to perform on the Expresso morning show on SABC3 between 06:00 and 09:00 and on Cape Town TV at 17:00 on Monday 27 February.
