Kick-off! We're underway here in the big clash between Portugal and Uruguay.
Oliviera runs onto a pass from Cavani just outside the Portugal box and strikes his shot hard but it's high and handsome into the crowd. Lovely passing so early on from Uruguay.
AMAZING! A long throw down the left flank finds Ronaldo on the edge of the box, but instead of heading it to a team-mate he shoulder bumps it to Carvalho on the edge of the box but he volleys it high into the crowd. What a showman is Cristiano Ronaldo… and what skills!
YELLOW CARD, URUGUAY, BENTANCUR. A very early yellow card after Bentancur stepped on Ruben Dias' foot after the Portuguese midfielder had already laid off the pass.
Fernandes with a shot from just outside the box but he doesn't get hold of it and it scuttles away past the right post, posing no threat to man or four-legged beast.
Portugal pushing forward…
… Ronaldo and Fernandes combine well, but he Uruguay defense is strong and it's a goal-kick.
Uruguay push down the left and win a corner…
… it's played short and crossed in, Giménez rises high to header but he can't keep it down and it's "catch ball" for the crowd.
Uruguay pushing forward but Portugal win possession back and launch a counter-attack… Ronaldo entertains the crowd with some fancy footwork before passing off to a team-mate, but Uruguay reclaim the ball.
João Félix gets a pass on the edge of the Uruguay box and unleashes a shot, but it deflects off a defender and Portugal gave a corner… and they've won a free-kick a few feet shy of the Uruguay box.

Good ball to the edge of the box and Ronaldo buss onto it and crosses but it goes to the far touchline where Portugal keep the attack alive…

Bentancur again with a run into the box but the pass is just ahead of him and he can only poke to forward against a team-mate and out for a goal-kick.
Some great attacking work first by Mendes down the left and then Ronaldo in the box, but Uruguay hold them at bay.

Free-kick drops beautifully into the box near the six-yard line, but it's headed away by the Portuguese defence.
Mendes is down and he looks hurt… his replacement is getting ready on the sidelines… he's walking off in great pain… but is there a substitution?
SUBSTITUTION, PORTUGAL. Mendes has trudged down the tunnel to the changing room, with Raphaël Guerreiro filling his boots for the rest of the evening.
YELLOW CARD, URUGUAY, OLIVERA. The Uruguay midfielder is booked for deliberately blocking a free-kick from being taken.
HALF-TIME, PORTUGAL 0-0 URUGUAY. Lots of action but nothing in the goals column as the team make their way to the dressing-room. Uruguay have shown a lot of intent without that crucial, clinical final touch, while Portugal have looked quicker and slicker and more likely to get the ball into the net… although their goal radar has also been way off. It's going to be fascinating to see what how the two teams come out after their team-talk and how they approach the last 45 minutes of this crucial encounter. Stay with us for the second half, starting shortly.
Three minutes of added time are announced, and Portugal have a corner, but Uruguay push them back into their own half.
Kick-off! The second-half is underway and some of football's most exciting goal-scorers are primed and ready for action, so don't go to your fridge unless it's in the lounge or you're watching in the kitchen. These two talented teams are sure to produce a second-half cracker!

Great break by Bernardo Silva and he feeds João Félix in the box and he curls his left-footed shot but it slides just outside of the left post - so close, and what a wonderful break by Spain.
GOAL, PORTUGAL, RONALDO! 1-0; What a breakthrough, and well-deserved. Ronaldo taps home with a header from a superb Fernandes cross. Ronaldo doesn't get much on that header… it almost just slides off his head towards the far corner. What a breakthrough for Portugal.

Valverde lets fly from distance, but his shot flies into the crowd.
Quick counter by Portugal who romp into the Uruguay box, Silva taking a snapshot but it's deflected by a Uruguay defender.
Portugal have a corner but the referee is checking the VAR screen for a possible penalty… accidental handball is in question… and he's given it! It definitely struck the hand of Giménez as he fell to ground, but it wasn't intentional… but the rule is a penalty and that's what we will have.

POST AGAIN! Fernandes again denied a hat-trick as his snap shot cannons off the left post. That was so close to the first hat-trick of the tournament.
FULL-TIME, PORTUGAL 2-0 URUGUAY. Portugal are through to the next round and Uruguay have to win if they want any chance of making it through. Well, that was an exciting contest, but Portugal definitely deserved the win as they were more adventurous, attacking and clinical. Uruguay put a lot of effort in but they just didn't have that final touch and, once they were chasing the game, they looked like they kept rushing things. Sublime football in the end from Portugal who, if I might be so bold, are looking like strong contenders for the title. With that match completed all teams have played two matches, we have two teams who have been eliminated (Qatar and Canada) while three powerhouse sides (France, Brazil and Portugal) have qualified. We hope you have enjoyed following the action with us tonight and hope you enjoy the rest of the World Cup action over the next fortnight.
