The Gordon’s Bay Lions Club is appealing for donations of socks in support of the Bergvliet Lions Club’s attempt to break the world record of the longest line of socks for charity.

The current Guinness World Record was set in Germany on 17 May 2014, with a 6 066 m-long washing line boasting 69 152 socks pegged to it. And with help from the public, the Lions can hopefully smash the record for a worthy cause.

“We need all your new, old or gently used socks, and those single socks tucked away in a cupboard. We will find a sole-mate for them!” implored the local Lions club.

Donations can be dropped off in the Sock Box located at Gordon’s Bay clubhouse on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 09:30 and 11:00 until end of October.

V For more information, contact the Gordon’s Bay Lions Club, which is located at the Gordon’s Bay Sports Grounds between Roos Street and Sir Lowry’s Pass Road, on 081 341 0980 or info@gordonsbaylions.co.za.
