The fatal stabbing of a 41-year-old man in Sir Lowry’s Pass, has left the victim’s family reeling in shock.
The life of Thobile Titise was claimed in an incident which occurred in the Rasta Camp informal settlement last Thursday night (28 April). A suspect was arrested in connection with the murder, which played out in front of the deceased’s home with his wife, Nozicelo allegedly bearing witness to the “shocking” incident.
She recalled an unknown man ranting outside their home round 20:00 on Thursday. As this apparently has happened before, Titise decided to take action.
“My husband decided to go outside and find out what the man’s problem is and why he was shouting at us,” said the bereaved spouse.
“The man persisted and my husband asked him to please stop shouting. He replied, ‘I will show you’.”
According to the spouse she requested that her husband come back inside, taking the lead. “I thought my husband would follow, but didn’t hear his footsteps. Instead, I heard a loud scream from a community member,” recalled Nozicelo, who turned around and saw the man stabbing her husband in the back.
“He then jumped on my husband’s back and continued stabbing him. I shouted at the man and he stopped and I immediately grabbed my husband and pulled him into the house.”
Nozicelo further recalled her husband passing away moments later.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, confirmed that a case of murder is being investigated after the stabbing which cut the life of Titise short. “Circumstances surrounding the incident is part of the police investigation,” he said.
“According to reports, Somerset West police were called to the crime scene where they found the victim with a stab wound to his upper body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.”
