The iconic Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience will again be hosted in Stellenbosch by Stillwater Sports on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November.
The event, dubbed the “biggest MTB party”, will again incorporate a vast network of world-class trails not usually open to the public, explained Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports and event founder. “There will be new route additions that are guaranteed to get the heart rate pumping, while golden oldies such as G-Spot and Bartinney’s Skyfall will still feature,” he related.
The race is an individual two-day stage race, with the routes highlighting the beauty and splendour of Stellenbosch. The festival village will again be located at Hoërskool Stellenbosch.
MTB riders older than 18 have a choice of two-distance options: the full and half-marathon. The full marathon covers about 45 km on the first day and 40 km on the second day, while the half-marathon covers about 27 km on day one and 22 km on day two.
Entry to the events cost R1 600 (full) and R1 400 (half). The cost includes an official rider jersey for those who enter by Friday 22 October, a finisher technical rider tee, a finisher medal, race number, trail access fees, spectacular on-route experience, access to world-class routes, a light breakfast and lunch pack on both days, complimentary drinks and refreshments, well stocked water points, entertainment, and gifts from sponsors.
A portion of the proceeds is donated to the Stellenbosch Trail Fund.
