THE countdown to the PEFA Annual Golf Day has begun and this year marks a milestone – PEFA is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2021.

PEFA manages, serves and promotes the development and growth of soccer, assists members and affiliates in their endeavours to create environments to develop football, promotes the laws of the game, educates all members, clubs and players about the laws, and encourages the involvement of youth (boys and girls) in football and related activities.

PEFA is also affiliated to the South African Football Association (SAFA).

The PEFA executive members are volunteers who assist and support the association in achieving their goals through multiple initiatives, time and effort.

They are led by President Angelique Jennings, who is also a teacher at Victoria Park High School.

“We have catered for youths, young adults and ladies in creating a safe and healthy environment This has been achieved over a number of years which will benefit the association,” said PEFA executive member and golf day organiser, Clinton Edwards.

This year PEFA celebrates its 125th year, making it the oldest Local Football Association (LFA) in South Africa.

Due to COVID-19, some of the celebrations have been postponed and will run into 2022, including a music and dinner show and football-related activities, such as the PEFA Annual Football Cup/tournaments.

In addition to being a fund-raiser, the upcoming golf day will also serve to create awareness for PEFA and the clubs/affiliates associated with PEFA.

“The funds we are hoping to generate from the golf day will continue to assist us to be financially sustainable as we rely heavily on grants and members’ registration fees.”

It promises to be a fun day, especially with Gino Fabbri and Neil Bisseker on the scene.

The Annual PEFA Golf Day will take place at the Wedgewood Golf Course on Friday, October 29.

All SAGA, SAFA and PEFA registered members will receive a 10% discount on standard rate, which is R1 600 per four-ball. There is also a PEFA club special at R1 800 and a corporate special at R2 100.

Prizes and competitions on the day include longest drive, hole-in-one, raffles and much more.
