A music artist from Parow East has just released a new song entitled “Rendezvous”.
The former Tygerberg High School learner Lucrecia Rae collaborates with Gino Lee, a singer, actor, music producer and model from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape on the track which was released in September.
Rae explains that her love for music and singing started while she was still at primary school around the age of 12 years. “I started singing in my primary school choir, Parow West at the time. I am now 24 years old, so it has been exactly 12 years of singing experience for me.
“The first highlight of my career was when I was in my matric year and I got to do backing vocals and back-up dancing for Emo Adams as part of the South African Youth Choir at the Huisgenoot Skouspel in 2014. This was such an honour for me because I am such a huge fan,” says Rae.
Also as part of the South African Youth Choir, Rae performed backing vocals with an international artist known as Para One for his song called Elevation.
In 2016, her final year as a Performing Arts student at Northlink College Tygerberg Campus, Rae landed a role in the play Fiddler On The Roof.
“I received Best Supporting Actress Award 2016 for Musical Theatre Performance, and the Special Achievement Award 2016 for my dedication and contribution to the arts,” she explains.
This, she says, opened her eyes to the possibility of one day becoming a performer on Broadway shows.
“I first discovered my song-writing ability in my years at high school when I noticed that I was really good at naturally understanding poetry. The poetry at school inspired me to write my own poems which I then turned into song lyrics.”
The Pop artist sang in both her primary school choir, as well as high school choir.
Rae has also released an EPK called “On Fire” which features five songs. Some of the songs have also received international airplay.
“I am now preparing to perform at the IMTA Convention in July 2022. IMTA is the biggest model and talent convention worldwide and I am so grateful to be on this journey that provides me with exposure and education on an international level,” Rae says.
Gino Lee is also part of the IMTA team.
“We clicked very well from the get go and have created a song called Rendezvous that is currently being released on streaming platforms and is already playlisted on Algoa FM, as well as Ackerman’s Radio.
“The song is a prelude to an album Gino Lee and I are working on to be released in the year 2022,” says Rae.
According to the duo, the song is about spending quality time with the person you love, a statement reads.
Rae says her future goals are not only to be a performer, but also to become a star. “I believe that my continuous dedication to improving my career and my faith will take me there in time.”
She says currently she is also preparing to go to New York in September next year.
